There is a new method to deliver medicines with a mist that penetrates deeply into the nose and sinus cavities.   It does require a pump, but this may be covered by your health insurance.

If your doctor recommends this therapy, you can expect a call from the distributor.  They have a reputation of being very professional and helpful.  They will work with you and your medical insurance company.  Once the costs have been worked out, they will send you a pump and ampules of the appropriate medicines.   The treatments are usually required 3 sessions a day for 3 weeks.  It takes about 3 minutes to aerosolize each medicine dose and, factoring in the set-up and clean-up time, each therapy should take about 6 minutes.

The nebulizer system can be used to deliver antibiotics, steroids (anti-inflammatories), mucus-thinning and anti-fungal medicine.

Nasal nebulizers and sprays are useful techniques for treating chronic sinus infections and nasal polyps without some of the unpleasant side effects when antibiotics, antifungals and steroids are taken by mouth.
