Questions about our Practice

Why is your practice called Alliance ENT?

We are healthcare providers who specialize in diseases of the Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) only. As specialists, we act as consultants to primary care physicians (PCP’s). Our relationship to those doctors is very important to us …and to you. We want to provide advice to you and your PCP. We believe that your healthcare will be best if all of your doctors are communicating with each other. Therefore, we hope to form an alliance with your PCP. We also want to form a relationship with our patients which would be a second alliance. Finally, we believe in a broad definition of medical care. We are supportive of safe and thoughtful allied medical providers, such as chiropractors and acupuncturists, and alternative medicines, such as herbal medicine and antioxidant supplements.

How do I know if my health insurance covers the cost of a visit, test or surgery?

Today’s world of health insurance is very complex. For instance, within the medical insurance policies offered by United Health Care and Blue Cross Blue Shield, there are many differences…often depending on the agreement made with your employer. Some policies cover some portion of the cost of a hearing aid, while others do not. Some require you to pay a percentage of the cost or a deductible of $500 or more before the insurance company begins to cover any health care costs. Some require that you have tests performed at specific laboratories where they have a financial arrangement. Some services, such as treatment of snoring, benign skin lesions and cosmetic issues, are not covered by medical insurance at all. Our office does not always know the details of your insurance policy, but we will work with you to understand the limits of your policy before you make a decision about treatment.

Do you offer a financing plan?

Yes. We have the information about financing services that you can contact to arrange a plan.

Can I talk to someone who has had a similar problem or surgery?

There is no better way to find the answers to your concerns than from someone who has gone through that experience already. If you are worried about some aspect of your medical care, we encourage you to contact one of our former patients who is generous enough to offer their advice. (patient counseling service)

Do women have special ENT problems?

Yes. Women suffer from many unique head and neck problems. For example, problems with dry mouth and eyes and a burning sensation of the tongue are often associated with the changes that occur during menopause. Women also suffer more frequently from migraine headaches and the many more subtle forms of migraine disorders, such as diminished hearing, pressure sensation in the ear and odd dizzy sensations. We understand this and can help evaluate and explain these phenomena to you.
